The humble Petition of John Ray< no role >
one of the Constables
of the Parish of Finchley
in the County of Middlesex
Sheweth
that your Petitioner at Easter 1792 was appointed
Constable of the Parish aforesaid by a Court Leet then held
for the Manner of Finchley
at the Castle at Highgate
And your Petitioner was sworn in and continued to execute
such Office for above a Year
That at Easter last Thomas Taunton< no role >
was chosen
one of the Constables
in the room of your Petitioner
but in as much as the said Thomas Tainton< no role >
appeared to be
an old and inform
Man and past the Age of Seventy
your Petitioner hath been informed that the said Thomas
Taunton< no role >
hath [..] procused himself to be discharged from
[..] being such Office And the Inhabitants a Court Leet
have not perceeded to chuse any other person in your
Petitioners slead
Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays
that as your Petitioner hath served longer
than usual that he may be discharged
from longer sewing the Office of Constable
for the Parish of Finchley
