THE Examination of Mary Eyles< no role > a
Married Woman
Rogue and Vagabond, apprehended by Abraham
Sear
< no role > Beadle
in the Parish of St. Luke, Chelsea , and brought
before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the
Peace in and for the County of Middlesex aforesaid;
and taken before me this fifth Day of
July in the Year of our Lord 1793.
This Examinant on her Oath says, That She was born
in the parish of St. George near the City of Bristol , that she is
about 33 Years of life, that she was lawfully married by
banns at the parish Church of St. George near the City of
Bristol & in the County of Summersetr . to her present husband
Edward Eyles< no role > a Gardner by whom she hath now living two
Children Vizt. Joseph< no role > Aged abt 12 Years & John< no role > Aged abt. 14
months which said youngest Child is now with her, this
Examinant further saith that her said husband is a Gardner
residing in a Cottage he built & is his own property at a
Village called Screw's hole in the parish of St. George aforesaid
where she eloped from him abt. five weeks since & has for
several nights until she was taken in to the Workhouse of the
parish of St. Luke Chelsea in the County of Middlesex lain & Lodged
in the Open Air under a hay Stack in the said Parish
