Sheweth.
That by a certain Conviction under the hand and Seal of
John Staples< no role >
Esquire
one of His Majestys Justices of the peace
for the County of
Middlesex
bearing date the fifteenth day of May one thousand
seven hundred and Eighty nine Four Petitioners was Convicted for
that he on the twelfth day of May last past did sell unto are

one Pair of Gloves made of Leather above the Price or
Value of One shilling and four pence that is to say of the price
or value of One shilling and six pence and Subject to the Stamp Duty
of Three pence without any Stamp

whatever being affixed to the said Pair of Gloves or to either of them
market a Stamped as by the Statute in such Case made and
provided is directed Four Petitioner as is alledged in the said Conviction
then and there not being a person licensed by the said At selling the
aforesaid Gloves to any Retailer of Gloves or Mittens also liensed
by the said Act contrary to the force of the Statute in that Case made
and provided.
That your Petitioner apprehends himself to be aggrieved by the
said Conviction and therefore humbly Appeals against the same and
Rays that Your Worships will appoint a day in this person Session
for the hearing and determining there of.
