Middlesex


To His Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of
Middlesex in their General Session of the Peace holden for the said
County in the Month of December 1787 assembled.

The Report of the Committee appointed to give
Directions for the Repairs necessary to be done at the
New Prison and House of Correction Clerkenwell .

Your Committee Report That Mr Samuel
Newport
< no role > the Keeper of the New Prison having laid before the Committee
a State of the Repairs necessary to be done at the Prison the Committee
thought it expedient to Order the following Alterations and Repairs to
be forthwith done Vizt.

The two Floors of the Lower Ward of the Mens Side to be repaired
The Lodge Floor to be repaired

A New Fire place in the Womens Shed to be made under
the direction of Mr. Wood.

The Water Pipe at the back of the Prison to be repaired
And they directed Mr. Wood to use his Endeavours to cure the
Chimney in the Sick Ward on the Mens Side of Smoaking.

And Your Committee further Report that they
Caused Mr. Wood to Survey the said Prison and to lay before them an
Account of the Repairs necessary and immediately wanting to be done
in addition to those before directed when Your Committee thought it
proper to order the following Repairs to be also done Vizt.

A Partition to be made across the Womens Day Shed,
and two of the Openings to be inclosed in a Temporary Way to shelter
the Women from the Inclemency of the Weather, and the Shutters and
Doors of the Wards to be Repaired,
