Read the Report of the Committee in December Session 1784

Mr. Adams being again Asked what he thought the Increase of
Vagrants was owing to Reply'd the Ease with which Passes were
obtained from the Magistrates of the City of London And that he was of
Opinion that the greater Number of Persons that were removed by him
were not within the description of Vagrants That very Often Persons
have been committed to Prison as Vagrants and when he saw them he
has been obliged to apply to the Committing Magistrate to discharge them
they being unable to perform the Journey through Illness and many of
them have been under the Apothecaries Care for 9 or 10 days.

That upon an Average he has had them about once in a fortnight
sent from the City in the Condition he has above described

That the following paupers were sent to his House in Situations
of which he gives the following Account vizt.

"John Hopkins< no role > Longford Ireland S Wright Esqr .

"N:B: Brought to my House 21st. July was so bad the next Morning as
not be able to go with the other Paupers with a Fever & Ague as he said
Order'd him Mint & Baume Tea Etc he being very delirious - the next Night
sent for Advice on Examination found he had had a violent Blow on the
back part of his head which the Surgeon imagin'd has injured the Brain
Apply'd to the parish Officers of Islington to get him into the Workhouse
or Hospital , not being able to get him into the Hospital he was sent into
the Workhouse , 23. July in the Evening
