It also appears by a Memorandum on the hand Writing of
Mr Benson that he hath not received any Rent for the Tap at the House of
Correction at Clerkenwell since Michaelmas 1782 and by the examination of
Mrs. Gibbes late the Widow of Mr Thomas Harwood< no role > Keeper of the said Tap it
appears that Mr Harwood paid Rent to Mr. Crozier the then Governor of the
said House of Correction to Christmas 1782 but since that time no Rent hath
been paid That Mrs. Harwood continued in the house till March last but
that before Christmas 1782 the business of serving the Prison was stopped
That Mr Harwood in December 1782 petitioned the Court on consequence
whereof the Rent was reduced to £15 a year to commence from Christmas 1782
That little or no business was done at the Tap after that time and for Three
Months before last March the time when Mrs. Harwood last the house no
business whatsoever was carried on.

The Committee also Report that they have in pursuance of
the powers to them given issued an Order directed to the said Mrs.
Margaret Benson< no role > forthwith to deliver over to the Clerk of the Peace of this
County or his deputy all the Accounts and Vouchers and other Books
papers and Writings belonging to this County and remaining in the
hands of the said Mr Benson as Treasurer or Receiver as aforesaid at
the time of his decease. and Also another Order directed to the said Mrs.
Benson forthwith to pay unto Mr. Charles Eyles< no role > the present Treasurer of
this County the said Sum of Eight hundred and seventy three pounds Eighteen
shillings and four pence half penny being the balance due to the County
Stock remaining in the hands of the said Mr. John Benson< no role > at the time
of his decease.
