And this Dept Thomas Vaughan< no role > for himself Saith That in the
Year 1783 a New Common of the Peace Fined for the City
& Liberty of Westmr. soon after which Mr John Haines< no role >
then of Princes Street and now of Great Chatten Street
Westmr. applied at the office of the Clk of the Peace for the
said City to be informed whethe his Name was incerted in the
Common as a Justice of the peace or not and he this Dept have
recourse to an Alphabetical Lists which he had made as is usually
[..] of the Names in the Common and The Name John Haynes< no role >
appearing therein Mr HainesObsecured that the Name was wrong spelt & desired that the Name Haynes with an i. might he altered to Haines wth an in or something to that Effect and accordingly the Clerk of the peace altered they into an in that by [..] and on [..] Gave Orders to the Clerk of the
peace to the out a Dedimes to enables him to quality for
the Office of a Justice of the peace which was accordingly
said out and Mr Haines both the usual Paths and his Seat upon
the Bank and was considered for some Months as a Justice of the
peace for Westmr. well & properly appointed And this Dept
further Saith that Complaints have been made to the Magistrates at the Sessions
for Westmr. agt. the said I Haines & larging him with many very
Oppressive & corrupt Practises in his office as a Justice of the
peace The Magistrates in Session Assembled thought it their
Duty to make an Inquiry into such Charles this Dept. power for himself Saith That a [..] Committee
of Justices was appointed accordingly for that purpose and he in the Absence of Mr Vaughan the Clark of the peace was chosen secretary to that Committee and attended the same as [..] which Commee [..]
of Opinion that Mary unwoman take Acts had been dones
by the said John Haines< no role > -And this Depont. further Saith
That during the proposs of the said Inquiry by the said
