To the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
Parish of St. James, at Clerkenwell , in the County of
Middlesex ; and to the Church-wardens and Overseers of
of Poor of the Parish of Hampsted in the County of
Middlesex
and to each and every of them.

UPON the Complaint of the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor
of the Parish of St. James , at Clerkenwell , aforesaid, in the said County of
Middlesex , unto us whose Names are hereunto set, and Seals affixed, being two
of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Middlesex ,
and one of us of the Quorum, that George Cross< no role > and Sarah < no role > his
Wife are
come to inhabit in the said Parish of
St. James ,in at Clerkenwell , not having gained a legal Settlement there, and that
the said George Cross< no role > and Sarah his Wife are
now chargeable to the said Parish of St. James ,in at Clerkenwell . We the said
Justices, upon due Proof made thereof upon Oath, as otherwise, and likewise
upon due Consideration had of the Premises, do adjudge the same to be true;
and we do likewise adjudge, that the lawful Settlement of the said George
Cross
< no role > & Sarah his Wife is in the said
Parish of Hampsted in the said County of
Middx We do therefore require you, the said Church-
wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of St. James , at Clerken-
well, or some or one of you, to convey the said George Cross< no role > & Sarah his Wife
from and out of your said Parish of St. James , at Clerkenwell , to the said Parish
of Hampsted and them to deliver to
the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or to some or one of them,
together with this our Order, or a true Copy thereof, at the same Time shewing
to them the Original; and we do also hereby require you, the said Church-
wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Hampsted
to receive and provide for them according to Law. Given under
our Hands and Seals, the 26the Day of August in the
Year of our Lord, 178 4.
