On the Prosecution of Archibal [..] Campbell< no role >

James Davidson< no role > the above named Defendant
maketh Oath and Saith that being Indicted in
September Sessions last for Assaulting the Prosecutor
above [..] this Deponent in the following Sessions
pleaded not Guilty to this said Indictment and
intended to have tried his Traverse this December
Sessions on the said Indictmt. This Deponent further
saith that some little space of Time before this Sessions
begin he received or Card from a person who told this
Deponent the said Card came from the Clerk of the
peace and the Prosecutors Attorny [..] a Copy ofwhich
said Card is [..] hereto Annexed And this Deponent being
a Journey man Joiner & Carpenter and Quito ignorant
of Law and a Poor man and thinking all proceedings
were stayed by reding the said Card and not knowing
Notice of Trial was required Applied this day to the
Clerk of the Peace respecting the said beforementioned
Card who says he knows nothing of the said Card but
the Deponent (being better informed this day). will give
the Prosecutor Notice of Trial indue form will this
Honourable [..] Admit there of against the next Sessions
in January & will try his Traverse on the said Indictment
