The Humble Petition of James Crozier< no role >
Sheweth
That Your Petitioner having been informed
that the office of Governor or Keeper of the House of Correction
at Clerkenwell
in the said County of Middlesex
is become
Vacant by the Resignation of Mr Hall and that your
Worships will proceed this Session to the choice of a New Keeper
of the said House of Correction
he therefore humbly offers himself
to Your Worships as a Candidate for the said office and begs leave
to assure you that if he shall be so happy as to be Elected he will
always make it the object of his utmost Endeavours and application
to merit your Worships favor and approbation by a Diligent
and faithful discharge of the duties of his office a ready obedience
to your Worships Commands and a careful decent and humane
behaviour to the Prisoners committed to his charge and Custody
That Your Petitioner has for upwards of Fourteen
Years served His Grace the Duke of Northumberland in several
offices of considerable trust in consequence whereof his Character
and Behaviour is well known to his Grace and he hopes has
been entirely satisfactory to him which your Petitioner flatters
himself will be some ground for inducing your Worships to
believe that he is not unqualified for the Trust he now intreats
you to Repose in him
And Your Petitioner as in Duty
bound will ever Pray Etc.
