Debtors Grieveances in Clerkenwell Bridewell
humbly submitted to the Sheriffs

The want of a Room to sitt in with a Fine Place, and not
to be exposed 14 or 15 hours in the open Air which at this Season
in extremely detrimontal to our Healths as well as 20 or more
Persons being locked up at Nights in one Room, the Major part
of whom has not Beds to lay on, may be attended with some fatal
contagion

That having such conveniencies would upon an averidge
beat least 2d P day in each Debtors, pocket as we can neither boil
a Tea Kettle, dress the small matter of Victuals we can afford to
buy, nor in short do any thing where Fire is required without paying
for it and in some instances 1/3d of what they cost

The prohibition of the sundry Mechanicks to work at their
respective Trades, (some of whom have large Familys) to the no
small loss to themselves & Familys, but also the injury to their
respective Creditors, as they to support nature are obliged to
live out of the small matters they have left (also the loss of many
use full Members to the community) who by their savings might
offer terms to their Creditors

The Prisoners who support their Familys by the Pen as well
as those who live by Shopkeeping Etc are under the same
predicament, could they do any thing in their respective
callings they have neither Room nor any conveniency
whatsoever

They beg to be inform'd as to the distributions of the donations,
their numbers, and from what scource they originate, to have
