To the Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Chiswick in the
County of Middx And to the Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the parish
of Greenford in the said County of Middx

Whereas it appeareth unto us, whose hands and Seales are hereunto sett (two of her Majties:
Justices of the Peace for the said County of Middx, Quor un) upon the Complaint of you
the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Chiswick That one
Thomas Shephard< no role > is lately intruded and come into yor. said parish of Chiswick indevoring
to gain a Settlement there without renting any house or land at ten pounds & ann rent or
upwards, or paying any parochiall Taxes, or being a hired servant by the year there, Or giveing
you or any of you [..] notice in writeing of the house or place of his abode or of the
number of his family in yor. said parish according to the forme of the Statute in that case made
and provided And that he the said Thomas Shephard< no role > is actually become chargeable to your
said parish of Chiswick and likely to continue soe if not timely prevented And for as much
as it also appeareth unto us the said Justices of the Peace by the examination of the
said Thomas Shephard< no role > upon oath, That about Nine or ten Yeares agoe He the said
Thomas Shephard< no role > was hired as a Covenant Servant by the year by one Francis Heath< no role >
then of the abovesaid parish of Greenford Gent at ten pounds P ann wages And
that he the said Thomas Shephard< no role > did then, serve and live with the said Francis Heath< no role >
(as such his hired servant by the year) in the aforesaid parish of Greenford for the
space of one whole year and upwards, And received his wages of him accordingly
Neither can Wee the said Justices of the Peace upon our strict Inquiry and
examination find, That he the said Thomas Shephard< no role > (Since his quitting the
said service and removeing out of the said parish of Greenford ) hath gained any
other legall settlement elsewhere Wherefore Wee her Majties. said Justices of
the Peace Doe deeme and Adjudge the said Parish of Greenford to be the place
of the now last legall Settlement of him the said Thomas Shephard< no role > .
These are therefore in her Majties. name to charge and require you the said
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the above said Parish of Chiswick
[..] That you or some or one of you doe forthwith on sight hereof Passe remove and
convey or cause to be Passed removed and conveyed him the said Thomas Shephard< no role >
from and out of your said Parish of Chiswick the next and directest way to the
above said Parish of Greenford in this County and to deliver him (together with this
Precept) to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor there or to some or one of
them Who are hereby Required to receive and provide for him as they doe for other
such Poor of their said Parish untill they can free themselves of thatof thatcharge
by due course of Law And this shall be unto you and them and every of you & them
a sufficient Warrant in that behalfe. Given under our hands and Seales this
