Upon the humble peticon of Lawrence Elleson< no role > of the parish of st.
James clerkenwell in this County exhibited unto this Court
setting forth that he is rated six pence P month towards the releife of
the poor of the said parish, and that he is a poor man & hath noe
other dependance for the maintenance of ance of himselfe & family then
his employmt. of a Journey man Taylor , and was never before
rated towards the releife of the said poor, and being aged fifty
five yeares is not able to pay the sd. rate It was therefore prayed
by the petr. that he might be discharged from paymt. of the sd. rate,
Now upon heareing of what was insisted on by the Petr. & alsoe by
one of the Churchwardens of the sd. parish who was present in
Court This Court is of opinion that the Petr. ought not to be
assessed any sume towards the releife of the poor of the sd. parish
and doth therefore Order that the Petr. be and he is hereby
absolutely discharged of & from the paymt. of the moneys assessed
upon him towards the releife of the poor of the said parish.
