Whereas by an Order made by her Maties Justices of the peace att a General
Sessions of the peace held for this County by adjournment on the eighth Day of
September in the first yeare of her present Maties reign Itt was Ordered that
noe person or persons whatsoever should from themselves take demand or exam
of any person or persons whatsoever that then was or thereafter should be a
prisoner or Prisoners in the Gaol of Newgate for their County any since or sume
of mony on pretence of garnish or footing mony or on any other presence
whatsoever, And that the keeper of the said prison should take effectuatt care
to prevent the takeing & exacting any sume or sumes of mony of any Prisoner
or Prisoners in his custody under presence of garnish or Footing mony or on any
other presence whatsoever and to presect the said Prisoner & Prisoners from
being abused and it heated by the rest of the prisoners for not paying the same
And that the said Keeper or his Deputy or Deputys (for whom he should answer)
should take effectuall care to see the Charity beefe and monys from time to time
given for the use & benefit of the Prisoners in her Maties said Gaol of
Newgate to be equally distributed amongst all the prisoners in the said
Prison intituled thereof And that James Fell< no role > then keeper and all other
Keepers of the said Gaol of Newgate for the time being should permitt and
suffer all the Prisoners in his and their custody to goe to the Chappell in the
said Gaol of Newgate to heare divine Serve and sermon as often as the
same should be performed there without any hindrance or molestacon
And that the said keeper of the said Gaol of Newgate should take
effectuall care that the cellars & suffing houses in the said Prison should
not be opened on the Lords day in fine of divine Service & sernon not [..]
drink drawn on sold in the said Prison dureing the said time of divine sexto and
sermon And it was thereby further Ordered that the keepers of the said Gaol of
Newgate should not put keep or lodge Prisoners for debt and Felony together in our
roome or chamber but that they should be put keft and lodged seperate & apnd
one from another in distinct roome pursuant to the Act of Parliament in that
case made under the penaltis therein concenned , And itt was further
Ordered that the Keepers of the said Gaol of Newgate should take
