be required by the Trustees and that they would be put up at the Sum which
they were let for or produced in the preceeding year clear of the Salary of the
Collector

That by Virtue of the said Act of Parliament the Trustees appointed
in and by virtue an Act of Parliament made in the Sixteenth Year
of the Reign of His present & Majesty King George the third Intituled an
Act to continue and render more effectual several Acts of Parliament for
repairing the Highways leading to Hihgate Gatehouse and Hampstead
and other Roads in the said Act mentioned in the County of Middlesex
and also to continue and render more effectual An Act to enable the
respective Trustees of the Turnpike Roads leading to Highgate Gatehouse
and Hampstead and from Saint Giles's Pound to Kilburn Bridge to
make a New Road from the Great Northern Road at Islington to
Edguare Road near Paddington so far as the same is by the said Act
directed to be under the Care and Management of the Trustees of the said
first mentioned Acts and for making a Road from the said New Road
near Queens Row to Bagnigge Wash and for watching lighting and
watering the said Roads and as in and by virtue of the Acts of
Parliament therein recited did by Lease dated the Twenty ninth Day of
September which was in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
and seventy seven demise and let to one John Evans< no role > for three Years All the
Tell and Sums of Money which lawfully might be demanded taken and
received at the following Gates on the Roads in the said Acts mentioned
that is to say Tottenham Court Gate , Battle Bridge Gate, Saint John
Street Gate, Goswell Street Gate, Cold Bath Fields Gate, Holloway Gate,
Balls Pond Gate, the East Gate New Road and the wast Gate new Road
That since the Execution of the said Lease the said Trustees have
at the Request of the said John evans< no role > erected a new Turnpike Gate at the End of Grays Inn Lane in the said
Parish of Saint Pancras in the said County and the said John Evans< no role > hath
ever since received and now receives the Tolls collected at such Gate for his
own Benefit by the permission of the said Trustees under pretence that
the same are let to him by virtue of the said Lease thought no Public Notice hath been given for letting the same and the Trustees
