On the Prosecution of Benja: Hobbs< no role >
For Petty Larceny

Benjamin Hobbs< no role > of the Blew Anchor East
Smithfield Victualler (the above Prosecutor
Maketh Oath that in Decr. last he lost one
Quart [..] and one pint Pewter Pott Which the said
Deft was apprended for the Stealing of by the
other Witness on the back of the Bill And this
Deponent and the said other Witness bound over
to Prosecute & give Evidence at this Present
Session Saith that he accordingly Yesterday
Preferred the Bill which was returned a
true Bill Saith that he was Informed and
which he believed to be true that if he was
here this Day by two o'Clock o'Clock it would
be Time enough Saith he gott here a
little after eleven and to his great Surprize
he found when he so Came here that the
said Defendant had a little Time before that
been discharged by Proclamation And Saith
that he did not omitt Comming here Sooner
with any Intention that the said Deft should Escape
Justice or in any wise to Screen him therefrom

Sworn in Court this 16th. Day
of January 1778
