Caleb Chips< no role > of Dover Street in the Parish of
Saint George Hanover Square in the County of
Middlesex Gentleman and Richard Dignam< no role > of
Coppice Row in the Parish of Saint James
Clerkenwell Coach Carver make Oath and say
And first this Deponent Caleb Chips for
himself Saith that when George Shirley< no role > Esquire
of Cork Street Burlington Gardens went out of Town
to his Country House in Warwick Shire the
Key of his House was left in the Care of this
Deponent who hath at several limes been in the House
and saw every thing of the Household Goods
therein were safe and the last time he was in
the said House which was [..] about [..] a Month
[..] agoandwhen he came out of the same he
double Locked the Street Door and brought the Key
along with him which has Constantly been in his Custody
and Saith that some time the beginning of this Month
he was applied to by one Mr. Clarke whom he was
Informed was a Constable who told this Deponent
that he believed a House in Cork Street which he
had the Key of had been broke Open upon which this
Deponent went with the said Mr. Clarke to the House
of Mr.. Shirley in Cork Street & when he put the Key into
the Door found it on a Single Lock opened it and went
into the House where he saw several Locks had
been broke Open and a great Quantity of Linen and
other things Scattered about in different parts of the
House which Confirmed this Deponents Opinion
that the House had been broke Open, this Deponent
