often soon after discharged on bail; and others upon application
of their Friends to the committing Magistrates are absolutely
discharged upon hopes of amendment and reformation; and
those who cannot compass their discharge in these Ways seldom
remain longer than six Weeks, being always taken to the next
succeeding Session of the peace holden for the County after
their Committment and there discharged the Prisons being
regularly cleared by the Court eight times a Year so often are
the Sessions of the Peace holden in Middlesex

On the foregoing Accounts the keeping the Prisoners in the
House of Correction to constant employment has been
generally attended with a charge on the County However
that has not deterred the Court of Quarter Session from
ordering employment to be found them as will appear from the
following State of the balance on the Account of the Labour
of the prisoners at the House of Correction in the three Years
mentioned in the Order of the Honourable House.
