Middlesex


At the General Quarter Session of the peace
of our Lord the King holden for the County of Middlesex
at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street in the County aforesaid (by adjournment)
on Thursday the nineteenth day of January in the
fifteenth Year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the
third King of Great Britain Etc. Before Sir John

Esquires and others their Fellows Justices of our said
Lord the King assigned to keep the peace in the County
aforesaid and also to hear and determine divers felonies
Trespasses and other misdemeanours committed in the
same County

Whereas the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Saint
Mary Stoke Newington in the County of Middlesex Did at the General Session
of the peace holden for this County in the Month of December 1773 Exhibits
their petition and Appeal setting forth That by virtue of an order or pass Warrant
under the hands and Seals of two of his Majesty's Justices of the peace for
the said County of Middlesex (one being of the Quorum) bearing date
the 12th day of October 1773 Mary Holmes< no role > and Alice< no role > her Daughter lawfull
Issue aged two Years and upwards were removed and conveyed by the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of St. Leonard Shoredich
in the said County from and out of the said parish to the said Parish of
Saint Mary Stoke Newington by the name of the parish of Stoke Newington
in the County of Middlesex as the place of the last legal Settlement of
the said Mary Holmes< no role > and Alice her Daughter Whereby the Petitioners
conceived themselves to be aggrieved which said Appeal stood duly adjourned
unto this day Now upon hearing the said Appeal and what hath been alledged
by the respective Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the said parishes
their Counsel and Witness in and concerning the premises It is ordered that
the said Appeal be and the same is hereby allowed and the said order or
pass Warrant of the said two Justices is hereby vacated and set aside And it
is further ordered that the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the
said Parish of Saint Mary Stoke Newington do forthwith convey and deliver
back the said Mary Holmes< no role > and Alice her Daughter together with a
Copy of this order) unto the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of
the parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch or to some or one of them who are
hereby required to receive and provide for the said Mary Holmes< no role > and Alice her
Daughter until they can free themselves from the Charge thereof by due
course of Law.
