At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our
Lord the King holden for the County of Middlesex at Hicks Hall in
Saint John Street in the said County (by Adjournment) on Thursday
the Twenty first Day of October in the Thirteenth day of Oct Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third King of Great
Britain Etc.

Whereas Charles Conacher< no role > Hath at this present Session Exhibited his
Petition and Appeal setting forth That the Petr. was by Indre of Apprenticeship
bound to John Hughes< no role > Bookseller and Stationer in New Bond Street for the Term
of Seven Years from the date thereof and the Apprentice Fee was Thirty
Guineas That the Petr. was about Two Months on likeing with the said John
Hughes
< no role > during all which Time the said John Hughes< no role > treated the Petitioner
with great Tenderness which induced him the Petitioner to become bound But
it was not long after that the Petr. reced many Acts of Cruelty from his said
Master & had been frequently unmercifully beaten by the said John Hughes< no role >
himself and his Journey man who he ordered so to do without any reasonable
Cause whatsoever & been frequently bid to go away & refused Instruction
from his Master in the Business he was bout to learn him That the said
John Hughes< no role > had many Apprentice with large Fees And as soon or in a
little time after he had so reced them He male treated them in such a
manner as to have made them be glad of a Discharge And the said Petr.
humbly apprehended the reason be had with such Cruelty behaved to him
& so soon after he was bound was that he might get rid of him & keep the
Fee The Petitioner therefore most humbly prays that this Honourable Court
would discharge him form his said Apprenticeship and Order the said
Apprentice Fee to be returned or such part thereof as your Worships may
