At the General Session of the Peace of our Lord the King holden for the
County of Middlesex at Hicks-Hall in Saint John Street in the said County (by
adjournment) on Thursday the Eighteenth day of February in the thirteenth
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third King of Great
Britain etc. Before Sir John Hawkins< no role > Knight , Benjamin Cowley< no role > , John
Cox
< no role > , John Spencer Colepeper< no role > Esquires Justices of our said Lord the King
Assigned to keep the Peace in the County aforesaid and also to hear and
determine divers Felonies Trespasses and other Misdemeanors
committed in the same County.

Where as the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint John at
Hackney in the said County Have at this present Session Exhibited their Petition and
Appeal setting forth That by Virtue of an Order or Pass Warrant under the Hands and
Seals of Cadwallader Coker< no role > and John Walford< no role > Esquires Two of his Majesty's Justices
of the Peace for the County of Middlesex (whereof one being of the Quorum) bearing date
Eleventh day of February 1773 George Brown< no role > and Ann< no role > his Wife and their four Children
namely George< no role > aged about nine Years Elizabeth< no role > aged about Seven Years William< no role > aged
about three Years and Mary< no role > aged about Two Months were removed from the Parish of
Saint Luke in the said County of Middlesex to the said Parish of Saint John at Hackney as
the place of their last legal Settlement Whereby the Petitioners conceived themselves
aggrieved Now upon hearing of the said Appeal and what hath been alledged by the
respective Churchwardens and Overseers their Council and Witnesses in and concerning
the Premisses It is Ordered that the said Appeal be and the same is hereby allowed and
the said Pass Warrant or Order of the said Two Justices is hereby vacated and set a side
And it is further Ordered that the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Saint John at Hackney do forthwith Convey and deliver back the said George Brown< no role >
Ann his Wife and their said four Children (together with a Copy of this Order) unto the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Luke aforesaid or to some or one
of them who are hereby required to receive and provide for the said George Brown< no role > Ann his wife and the
said four Children until they can free themselves from the Charge thereof by due Course of Law.
