To the Constables and Headboroughs within the Parish of Saint
James Clerkenwell and especially to Joseph Bishop< no role > Constable

Whereas Complaint on Oath hath been made unto us two of his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex Acting for the Division of
Finsbury byIsaac Mainwaring< no role > and Thomas Wetherall< no role > -
Scavengers of the Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell within the said County
and Division that the several Persons named in the within list have refused
and neglected to pay the several Sums respectively set against their names-
and Assessed upon them and Demanded by the said Scavengers by Virtue of-
a Rate made for Cleansing the Streets and Lanes in the said Parish and
carrying away the Dust Dirt and Ashes Fifth and Soiland other like
purposes
and for reparing the Highway within the same Parish whereof they are severally Inhabitants
These are therefore in his Majestys name forthwith to Summon them and-
every of them to Appear Personally before us and others our Fellows Justices
at our Special Sessions to be holden at the House of William Lester< no role > known
by the Sign of the Cherry Tree in Bowling Green row in the said Parish
of Saint James Clerkenwell on Monday-the Twenty fourth day of-
September instant by Ten-o'Clock in the forenoon to Answer to the
premisses and be you then and there in your proper Person to Certify in
what manner you shall have executed this our command Given under our
hands and Seals the Twentieth Day of September in the year of our-
Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy One.
