taken before me this 25th.. day of Augt. 1767
Who being upon Oath severally say and first the said Robert
Leech< no role >
for himself saith that on Sunday Night last he had Stolen
out of a Common Field near Staines aforesaid a Sorrell Mare
which he yesterday found at Peckham in the County of Surry in the
Possession of the said other Informt. Meredith Bishop< no role >

for himself saith that yesterday about Noon
a Person now present who call's himself Robert Battin< no role >
had this
said Mare in his Custody at the Queen's head
near the Falcon
Stairs Southwark
along with some live and Dead Geese
and having known the said Battin for some time as at Bargeman
he Spoke to him and took notice of the said Mare whereupon the
said Battin gave this Informant leave to ride her until five or
six oClock in the Evening and that he accordingly rode her to
