the King holden at broydon in and for he County of Surry on Wednesday the Nineteenth day of August
in the Seventh Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God now King of Great
Britain Etc Before William Lord Mansfield< no role > Chief Justice of our said Lord the King assigned to hold Pleas before
the King himself and Sir Sidney Stafford Smythe< no role > Knight One of the Barons of his Majestys Court of Exchequer
and others their Fellows Justices of our said Lord the King Assigned to Deliver the Gaol of the said County of the

and there Swore and Charged to enquire for our said Lord the King and the Body of the said County It is presented
in manner and form following ( that is to say) Surry) The Jurors for our Lord the King upon their Oath
present That Joseph Metford< no role > late of the Parish of Epsom in the County of Surry Labourer on the Ninth day
of August in the Seventh year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third now King of great Britain Etc.
About the Hour of three in the Night of the same day with force and Arms at the Parish Aforesaid in the County
Aforesaid the Dwelling house of one John Finch< no role > there Situate then and there feloniously and Burglariously did
break and enter And One Silver Tea Kettle and Lamp of the Value of Fifteen Pounds two Silver Waiters of the
Value of Fifteen Pounds Six Silver Table Spoons of the Value of three Pounds and one Silver Sniffer Stand of
the Value of Thirty Shillings of the goods and Chattles of said John Finck in the same dwelling house then
and there being found then and there feloniously and Burglariously did Steal take Curry Away against the peace
of our said Lord the King his brown and Dignity Wherefore the Sheriff of the County of Surry Aforesaid
is Commanded that he Omit not upon Account of any Liberty in his Bailiwick but that he take the said
Joseph Metford< no role > to answer he premises which said Indictment the Above named Justices of our said Lord the
King Afterwards (to wit) at the same delivery of the Gaol of our said Lord the King holden for the said County
of Surry at Croydon aforesaid in the said County on the said Wednesday the Nineteenth Day of August in the
said Seventh year of the Reign of our said Lord the King before the aforesaid William Lord mansfield and Sir Sidney
Stafford Smythe

Gaol of the Prisoners therein being by their own proper hands do deliver herein Court of Record inform of Law to be
determined Whereupon at that same delivery of the said Gaol of the County aforesaid before the said Justices
lastmentioned Cometh the said Joseph Metford< no role > under the Custody of John Durand< no role > Esquire Sheriff of the County
of Surry aforesaid in whose Custody in the said Gaol for the Cause aforesaid he had been before Committed being
brought to the Barr here in his proper person who is Committed to the said Sheriff forthwith concerning the
premises in the said Indictment above Specified and Charged on him as Above being Asked in what manner he
