Might be kept Clean-but We don't know
when its necessary till they run over.

It such Allowance was made could you
not keep the Gaol quite sweet & wholsome?

I dont imagine it would be in my power
or any other person to keep the prisoners
whole some-I could keep the prison
clean from Filth.

Could you make the prison wholesome?
No I don't think I could.
Are You of Opinion keeping the prison
Clean would not make it whoelsome?

From the Number of prisoners and
Confinement of the Building it will make
it unwholesome if ever so clean.

Are you of Opinion that any other Gaol
that is kept ever so clean, when full is
unwholesome?

If so badly constructed as ours is &
without an Area [..] belive it would

What

What do you mean by an Area?

A Free passage & open Yard & Draught
of Air through the Rooms.

If there was an Area for the prisoners do
you think it would make the prison wholsome?

I beleive it would be much better.

Are those who pay for the benefit of the
press Yard in better health than the other
prisoners?

Yes-they certainly are-they are
fewer in Number-thinks they are more
Healthy in proportion.

What No. of prisoners would the Debtors
Side Contain?

Cant say-never had it so full but it
would hold more & in every part-but when
full the more Sickly & more die than in
proportion to the Number.

If a new Goal would be unwholesome if so
full?

People might be unhealthy if more in it
-than if a few-a New Gaol might be much
better
