Middlesex .


At the General Session of the peace of our Sovereign Lord the King begun and holden for the County of
Middlesex at Hicks Hall in St. John Street in the County aforesaid on Monday the Twentieth day of February in
the thirty first year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the second King of Great Britain Etc and from thence
continued by Adjournment untill this Day (to wit Tuesday the Twenty first day of the same Month of February
in the year aforesaid and on the Same Day holden by Adjournment at Hicks hall aforesaid in and for the said
County before Thomas Lane< no role > Bartholomew Hammond< no role > Charles Palmer< no role > Thomas Nicol< no role > Esquires and others
their Fellows Justices of our said Lord the King assigned to keep the peace in the County aforesaid and also to hear and
determination divers Felonies Trespasses and other Misdeeds Committed in the Same County.

A Complaint and Appeal being made unto this Court against a certain Article contained in the Rate or Assessment made on
the Nineteenth day of July in the year of our Lord 1757 for Relief of the poor of the parish of Saint Luke in the said County which Article as
fellows Vizt.The Occupiers of a Mexuage or Tenemt. and premisses called St. Lukes Hospital for LunaticksRent £80Rate
£2..13..4by which Article the said Messuage called St. Lukes Hospital for Lunaticks is valued after the Rate of £80 by the year
And assessed Accordingly to pay £2-13-4 by the quarter of a year And this Court having fully heard and examined the said Complaint
and Appeal it appears in Evidence unto this Court that by Indenture made the 21st. day of November in the year of our Lord 1750 between
the Mayor & Comonally and Citizens of the City of London of the One part And James Sperling< no role > of Mincing Lane in the parish of Saint
Dunstan in the East London Merchant Henry Bankes< no role > of the parish of Saint Mary Hill Citizen & Grocer of London Richard Speed< no role > of
Old Fish Street in the parish of St. Mary Magdalen London Druggist Thomas Light< no role > of Mincing Lane aforesaid in the said parish of
St. Dunstan in the East Merchant And Willm.. prowting< no role > of Tower Street in the sd. parish of St. Dunstan in the East Apothecary of the other
part the said Mayor and Comonalty and Citizens as well for and in Consideration of the Sum of One hundred pounds of lawful Money of
Great Britain abready paid to Sr. John Bosworth< no role > Knight Chamberlain of London to and for the publick Uses of the said Mayor and
Comonalty & Citizens As also for and in Considn. that they the said James Speiling Henry Bankes< no role > . Richd. Speed Thomas Light< no role > and
Willm. Prowting shouldshalland wouldwillbuild or convert the premisses in the said Indenture mentioned or some part thereof into an Hospital for poor
Lunaticks And for and in Consn of the Rents & Covenants in the sd. Indre contained on the part & behalf of the said James Sperling Henry
Bankes

Good Causes & Consns them the sd. Mayor & Comonalty & Citizens especially moving did pursuant to an Order of the Court of Cornon Council

and being on Windmill Hill in the parish of Saint Luke in the County of Middlesex containing from West to East on the South Side
ponting the upper Moorfields One hundred and Eighty Feet of Assize little more or less And from South to North on the East Side One
hundred and seventy Eight Feet of Assize little more or less And from East to West on the North Side One hundred and sixty five feet
of Assize little more or less And from North to South or the West Side One hundred and Eighty feet two Inches of Assize little more or
less And Abultedth on the Way loading to St. Agnes le Clair All wch said premes were formerly demised by two Seperate Leases to
Philip Whiteman< no role > and John Davis< no role > and do more plainly appear by a scheme or Draft thereof with a Scale made to the same unto the
said Indenture annextedTo have and to hold the sd. piece or parcell of Ground with the Appurtenances unto the said James
Sperling Henry Bankes< no role > Richard Speed< no role > Thomas Light< no role > and William Prowting< no role > their Exors Admors & Assigns from the feast day of the
Birth our Lord Christ next ensuing the Date of the said Indenture for and during and unto the full End and Term of thirty two years
