Maketh Oath that being at the house of John Mc.Donnell of Chelsea
Gentleman
some Short Time after George Sweatman< no role >
who had been for a
considerable Time detained in
New Prison
Clerkenwell
as an Evidence
on Behalf of the Crown in this Cause was bailed out of the said Prison
He this Deponent there saw the said John Mc.Donnell give the said
Sweatman some Money which the said John McDonnell< no role >
told this
Deponent was a Crown And this Deponent Saith that immediately
after the said John McDonnell< no role >
had so given him the said Sweatman
the said Money he the said John Mc.Donnell and this Deponent went
into a Publick house hard by to drink a Bottle of Wine and the said
John Mc.Donnell< no role >
then told this Deponent that he had managed
Matters in a fine Manner or to that Effect And this Deponent Saith
that to this Deponents Knowledge he the said John McDonnell< no role >
is the Principal Agent and Manager for the Defendant in
this Cause and together with his Brother Dennis McDonnell< no role >
became Bail for the Defendt. when he was discharged out of
Newgate
in October last [..] and therefore this Deponent doth
believe that any Kindness shewn by the said John McDonnell< no role >
to the said George Sweatman< no role >
was by the Desire or on the
Account of the said Defendant And this Deponent further Saith
that yesterday he Served Mr. Harrison the Defendants Attorney with a true
Copy of the Notice hereto annexed at his house in
Queen Street
