thereuponAdmitted him And upon his Coming
into the Room &being Asked what he had to Say he
Informed thisDepont. that he had been with said
Campbell Bucknall and others at Breackfast the Morning before at sd.
Scotts House and that the sd. Bucknall had promised him half a Guinea
a day to Swear agt. this Depont and had given him a Crown in hand
and that he had been with the sd. Campbell Scott and Chambers to the
Secretary at War who on Examining into the Affair dismissed them
saying he looked upon it as a Wicked and Malicious prosecucon and that
he would have nothing to be with it or give any direccons therein and that
on their return to Bucknall who waited at a publick House near the War
Office for them and Acquainting him with the afsd. Ill Success he was angry
and seemed greatly discounted and this Depont. Saith that the sd. Hodgins
then said Sir I know you in Ireland my Father Worked for your family
and when I formed you were this person I was resolved to Acquaint you
with their Bribery and design And this Depont. Saith that he never
directly or indirectly to his knowledge or belief saw the sd. Hodgins or did he
ever Speak to him write send to or converse with him in any manner Wtsoever
before or since nor did this Depont. ever Employ him or any other person or persons
whatsoever to go to the sd. Sweatman to Offer or to Tamper with him or promise
him Twenty Guineas or any other Sum or Sums or make any promise of Supply
to him upon any Accot. whatsoever And Saith all the sd. Hodgins has
Sworn in relation thereto is Intirely false and was Calculated to distress
this Depont. by putting of his said Tryal And this Dept. Saith that after
he was Admitted to Bail [..] one of the persons who was Deponts. to Bail
brot. this Depont. to his House pretending the greatest friendship to
him where Depont. to his great Surprise found himself as much a prisoner
as her was before having been locked up and Confined thereby his said
Bail till he compleated his Designs of plundering and defrauding this
Depont. of Securities for Money then in Depts Bands and his own property
to the amount of Five Hundred pounds and upwards which he since
paid away and received Value or Security for the same as Depot believes and that after
Depont. was so plundered He gave this Depont. leave or permission
to go out but not before This Depont. further Saith that being so
defrauded imprisoned and distressed as afsd. and himself and family left
Destitute
