At the General Session of the Peace of our Sovereign Lord the King holden for the County of Middx at
Hickshall in St. John Street in the County aforesaid by adjournment on Saturday the Second day of March
in the twenty fourth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second King of Great
Britain Etc

Whereas the Chruchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of St. Clement Danes in this
County have exhibited their humble Petition unto this Court setting forth that Mary Evans< no role > This name instance is in set 957. (wife of
David Evan< no role > gone from her) a Vagrant not having a legal settlement in the said Parish of
St. Clement Danes was on the Ninth day of January last found wandering in labour
in the said Parish and being carried to one of the Parish Nurses of the said Parish was on
the same day delivered of a Femal Child by means where of the Inhabitants of the said
Parish were obliged necessarily to expend the sum of two pounds six shillings and six
pence for the lying in & maintenance of the said Mary Evans< no role > & Child, And that in
Pursuance of the statute in such case made the Petrs. conveyed the said Mary Evans< no role > to end of
his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for this County who examined the said Mary Evans< no role > and
committed her to the House of Correction pursuant to the said statute And the Petrs. prayed this
Court to Order the Treasurer of this County to reimburse them the said sum of two pounds six shill
and six pence expended by them as aforesaid, Now For asmuch as it appeareth to him Court
upon Oath that the said sum was necessarily expended by the Inhabitant of the said Parish for the
lying in & maintenance of the said Mary Evans< no role > & Child This Court by vertue of the statute in
such case made Doth Order that Mr. John Higgs< no role > Treasurer of this County do reimburse &
Pay to the Petitioners or one of them the said sum of two pounds six shillings and six pence
which this Court doth adjudg to be a reasonable satisfaction for the charges of the laying
in & maintenance of the said Mary Evans< no role > & child, And that the receipt of the Petitioners or
one of them to gether with this order or a true copy there of shall be a sufficient discharge to
the said Treasurer for such payment,
