The Humble Petition and Appeal of Lawson

That by Virtue of an Order under the hand of Boulton Mainwaring< no role >
Esqr: one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlsex
bearing date the Sixteenth day of October one Thousand seven
hundred and Fifty reciting that Whereas Compliant upon oath was
made unto him on the Sixth day of October by Thomas Forgie< no role > that he
did under take and Agree with your Petitioner for himself and Seventeenth
more of his gang to wit James Sparks< no role > Phillip Bree< no role > John Thorn< no role > Richard [..]

and that in doing of the Said Work they were greatly hindred Vizt:
for two days which hindrance and Stop they laid to your Petitioners
charge as a damage done to them twelve Shillings each man and
that he had Summoned your Petitioner to Appear before him to
Answer the Said Complaint and to Shew Cause it your Petitioner
Could why he ought not to pay them according to their demand
and that in obedience to the Said Summons your Petitioner had
appeared before him with them and he not makeing it appear
but that he ought to make them Some Satisfaction for the loss of
their time he therefore ordered your Petitioner to Pay unto each
man the sum of nine Shillings.

That your Petitioner conceives himself aggreived by
the said order and humbly appeals against the same.

Your Petitioner therefore most humbly Prays that
Your Worships will be pleased to appoint a day of
this present Sessions that all Partys May Att end
to hear and abide the Indgement and determination
of this Court touching the Said Appeal

And your Petitioner Shall every pray Etc.

Sovereign Lord the King Golden for the County of Middx
at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street in the County
aforesaid by adjormt. on Tuesday theSixteenth fifteenth day of January
in the Twenty fourth year of the reign of our Sovereign
Lord George the Second King of Great Britain
France and Ireland Defender of the Faith

It is Ordered by this Court that the above named Thomas Forgie< no role >
and the other Seventeen persons in the above recited order mentioned
andherein beforenamed in the Said Petiton appeal have Notice of this Appeal and that they
and all partys concerned to attend this Court on Thursday
next at ten of the Clock int he fore noon to hear and abide the Judgement
and determination of this Court touching the Said Appeal.
