County City and Liberty this 26 of June 1749.
This Informant on Oath sayth that on the 19th Instant
in the Afternoon a Person now present who calls himself
John Poe< no role >
but who owns he went by the Name of Samuel
Jones< no role >
presented at the shop of the said Littler a Certain
Note which follows in these word Mr. Littler Odiham
June 8. Sr. Krass to pay to Mr Samuel Jones< no role >
the
sum of three Pounds thirteen shillings and six pence
which I have given you a Letter about the please to
stole it out of the Money due for Stockings to your
humble Servant William Gregory< no role >
. which Note was Paid
by this Informant on the Account of the said Littler
to the Said Poe Alias Jones and that the said for Alias
Jones endorsedthe Shis Receipt thereof by the Name of
Samuel Jones< no role >
. Says that having no Doubt thereof at
the said time he did not carefully consider the Hand
writing of the Said Wm. Gregory< no role >
, but further sayth that
on hearing the said Note was forged he hath Since compared
it with other Writing of the said Wm Gregory< no role >
and that
on So doing he verily believes the Said Note not to be
the Hand Writing of the Said Gregory the it hath same
Resemblance to the same
