being upon Oath Says, That about three weeks
agoe he came acquainted with a Person now present who calls himself
Mathew Broom< no role >
in the house of Mr. Rainsdon who proposed to the [..]
Informt. (as he was a Sailor) to go about theCountryTown to CollectingCharity
with a false and Counterfeit Brief pretending that he was a Passenger
on Board the Charming Molly which said Ship in her Outward Bound
voyage for Boston in New England
was Unfortunatly lost and all her
Cargo, Says that he likewise pretended that he had been a Farmer
in the Country and having a Brother Dead at Boston in New England
he had sold off his Cattle which amounted to eight hundred pounds and
upwards and was going to Live there, Says he went with him about
London to several Gentlemen's houses to [..] gather Alms under presence
of the great Loss he had Sustained in his said pretended voyage,

Broom received Money from all the Gentlemen under pretence of the sd.
false and Counterfeit Breif which said Brief is hereunto annexed
more fully appears,whichsays that the Money was Equally Divided amongst [..]
And this Informt. says that one day last Week he went into his appartmt.
and there saw the said Mathew Broom write several Names as Justices
to another Brief particularly Phill: Pitts, Wm. Greene< no role >

Says that he likewise Saw him put a Seal to each Name, and afterwards
saw him Write the Church Wardens and Overseers Names which said
Briefbebbeing now produced and Shewed to him, he says is the same
which he saw him fill up
