To the Church-wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
Parish of St. Paul Shadwell
in the County of Middlesex
and to the Church- Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of
theParish of Hamlett of Ratclife in the
Parish of Stepny in the Same County

WHEREAS Complaint hath been made by you the Church-wardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of St. Paul
Shadwell unto us whose Hands
and Seals are hereunto set, two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
(whereof one is of the Quorum) for the County aforesaid,
That James Mercer< no role > otherwaise Messer< no role >
Ellenor Messer< no role > his wife , James < no role > his son aged
about for teen years, Joseph < no role > his son Aged about
four years and Ellenor< no role > his daughter aged one quarter
of a year have
lately intruded themselves into your said Parish of St. Paul
Shadwell
there to inhabit asParishioner s contrary to the Laws relating to
the Settlement of the Poor, and are there like to become charge
able, if not timely prevented: And Whereas, upon due Examinati
on and Enquiry made into the Premises, on Oath and
other Circumstances
it appears unto us, and we accordingly adjudge, That the said
James Messer< no role > , Ellenor Messer, James and
Joseph Messer his Sons, and Ellenor
Messer his daughtter , are
like to become chargeable unto the said Parish of St. Paul
Shadwell and that the last legal Place of
Settlement of the said James Messer< no role > , his wife and
three Children is in the saidParish of
Hamlett of Ratclif,

These are therefore in his Majesty's Name, to order and require you
the said Church- wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
St. Paul Shadwell aforesaid, that you
or some of you, do forthwith remove and convey the said James
Messer
< no role > his wife and three Children
from your said Parish of St. Paul
Shadwell to the saidParish of Hamlett of
Ratcliff and them deliver
to the Church- wardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or some or
one of them, together with this our Warrant or Order, or a true
Copy hereof: whereby they are likewise required in his Majesty's
Name, and by Virtue of the Statues in such Case made, forthwith to
receive the said James Messer< no role > , Ellenor< no role > his wife
and three Children, abovenamed
into their said Hamlett and provide for them
as their own Parishioner s Given under our Hands and Seals, the
Tenth Day of November in the Year of our
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty Seven
