Victualer Innholder and John Sherman< no role > of St. Mary Whitehapel in the County of Middx
Saddler Jointly and severally make Oath and say That on or about the second
day of May last the Bodies of Mathew King and John King< no role > [..]
in the County ofwere taken and brought before the worshipful
Richard Richards< no role > Esquire on of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said
County of Middlesex who were by him comitted So the respective prisons And for
the respective Causes following (that is to say) Mathew King to New Prison at Clerkenwell
in the said County of Middlesex for being concerned with two other persons not the taken
in stopping Joseph Major One of these Deponents on the Kings high way and for taking
from him a Mare a Knife Whip and Seven or eight Pounds in money the said Mathew
King having then and there acknowledged the facts alleadged against him to be true
And the said John King< no role > was also at the same time by the Magistrate herein before
mentioned comitted to Clerkenwell Bridewell on Suspicion of being concerned in the said
Robbery these Deponents having then nothing to alleadge against him the said John
King
< no role > save only that he came to fetch way the above mentioned Mare of the said
Joseph Majors One of these Deponents taken from him as aforesaid which Mare the
said Mathew King had left at the Stable of the said Richard Holdsworth< no role > another of
these Deponents the said John King< no role > denying upon his examination that he was any ways
concerned in the said Robbery And these Dependnts further say that they believe they
all enter'd into Recognizances to Prosecute the said Mathew King< no role > and John King< no role > in hopes
that the said John King< no role > being comitted some matterial evidence might also be found
out against him against the ensuing Session. But these Deponts. being then not able to
find out any Further Matter to allendge against him were advised that it won'd not be
proper for these Deponts. to prosecute the said John King< no role > and not Knowing at this
time any other matter or thing save as aforesaid to enable them to carry on a Prosecution
against the said John King< no role > are the only reasons they have not yet done the same
And lastly these Deponts. say that the reason of their not prosecuting the said
Mathew King was because he dyed in new prison aforesaid before they could to the
same as they are very well advised and informed
