At the General Quarter Session of the peace of our Sovereign Lord the
King holden for the County of Middx at Hickshall in St. John street in
the County aforesaid by adjornment on Saturday the eighth day
of May in the ninth yeare of the reign of our sovereign Lord George
the second King of Great Britain France & Ireland Defender of
the Faith before Thomas Lane< no role > Anthony Chamberlain< no role > Alexander
Garrett
< no role > William Booth< no role > Esquires & other their Fellows Justices of our said
Lord the King assigned to keep the peace in the County aforesaid and
also to heard & determine divers felonys trespasses & other misdeeds
committed in the same County,

Whereas the Churchwardens & Overseers of the poor of the parish [..]
St. James within the Liberty of Westminster in this County of Middx Exhibited
their humble petition & appeale unto this Court at this present
General Quarter Session of the peace holden for this County by adjornmt.
on Tuesday the fourth day of May instant settingforth That by vertue
of a Pass Warrant or order under the hands & seales of Henry
Vincent
< no role > & James Cardonnel< no role > Esqrs. [..] two of his Maties Justices of the
peace for the County of Middx bearing date the eighth day of April one
thousand seven hundred and thirty six Trueman Davis< no role > and his
wife Elizabeth< no role > were removed from the parish of Kensington in the
said County to the said parish of St. James as the place of their
last legal settlement, whereby the Petrs. thought themselves aggrieved
And therefore prayed that this Court would be pleased to appoint a
time for hearing & determining the said appeale, and that all
persons concerned might then attend, whereupon It was by an Order
made by this Court on the said fourth day of may instant Ordered by
this Court that the Churchwardens & Overseers of the poor of the said
parish of Kensington should have notice of the said petition & appeale
And that they & all persons concerned should attend this Court on this
present Saturday the eighth day of May instant at ten of the clock in
the morning to heare & abide the Judgment & determination of this

Court touching the said appeale, Now upon hearing of what was
alledged by Councel for theChurchwarsaid Appellants alledging
that one of their material witnesses touching the settlement in question
being sick and not now able to attend this Court they were not now
prepared to prosecute their said appeale, and therefore praying
that the hearing of the said appeale may be adjourned This Court
upon hearing of what was alledged by Councel for the Churchwardns.
& Overseers of the poor of the said parish of Kensington Doth Order
that (on the said Appellants paying to them or one of them the sum of
fifteen shillings for their costs in attending this day upon this Court with
