WE whose Hands and Seals are hereunto set, two of His Majes-
ty's Justices of the Peace for the ofCounty Middlesex (One
whereof being of the Quorum) and inhabiting in or next unto the
Limits of the Parish Church of the Parish ofSaint Luke
in the said County, having met together, and
heard the Complaint of the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the
Poor of the said Parish ofSaint Lukeconcerning
aFemaleBastard Child born in the said Parish, on the Body of
Mary Walkwoodon the24th.day ofAugust in the Year
One Thousand Seven hundred & thirtywhich is Baptizedby the Name of Dennishath ever
since the Birth thereof been chargeable to the said Parish, and so like-
ly to continue; do find, upon Examination to the saidMary
Walkwood
< no role > taken upon Oath before Us, that
Samuel Owen< no role > did beget on the Body of her the said
Mary Walkwoodthe saidFemaleBastard Child.
And we do adjudge him the saidSamuel Owen< no role > to be
the Putative Father thereof; And do order and appoint him the
saidSamuel Owen< no role > forthwith, upon Notice of this Our
Order (a true Copy being first delivered to him) to pay or cause to
be paid to the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor, or to
some or one of them, the sum ofForty Five Shillings
of good and lawful Money of Great Britain, towards defraying the
Charge of the said Parish ofSaint Luke
for Relief of the saidFemaleBastard Child, for the
first four Weeks after the Birth thereof, and for the Charge of her
Lying in. As also that the saidSamuel Owen< no role > shall
Weekly, and every Week afterwards, pay unto the said Church-Wardens
and Overseers of the Poor, and to the Church-Wardens and Over-
seers of the Poor of the said Parish for the Time being, or to some
or one of them, the sum oftwo shillings and Six penceof like lawful
Money, for and towards the Relief and Maintenance of the saidFemale
hath orBastard Child, for so long time as the saidFemaleBastard
Child Shall remain chargeable to be said Parish. And of and from
the Charge thereof, at all times hereafter, shall save Harmless, and
indemnifie the said Parish ofSaint Lukeand
forthwith give sufficient Security to the Church-Wardens and Over-
seers of the Poor of the said Parish ofSaint Luke
for the true Performance of this Our Order: Or to appear
at the next General Quarter Sessions of the Peace, to be held for the
County of Middlesex then and there to abide such Order as the
Justices of the Peace, or the most part of them, shall take in that behalf
(if they then and there make any) and if at the said Sessions, the
said Justices shall make no other Order; then to abide and perform
this Our Order. Given under our Hands and Seals thisNinth
