Take notice that at the next General Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be held for the County of
Middx at Hicks hall in St. John Street in the sd County by Adjournment on Tuesday the 27th. day
of April instant at ten of the Clock in the forenoon or so Soon after as Councell Can be heard
the Court will be moved to Confirm the order dated the 22d. day of March last whereof the under
written is a true Copy and also to Confirm the Taking & Seizing by the Churchwardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of St James within the Libty of westmtr. in the sd County
of middx the Goods menconed in the sd. [..] in Pursuance thereof and that the Court will
likewise be moved To make an order thereupon for the Churchwardens or Overseers for the
Poor of the sd. Parish of St. James to Dispute of the sd. Goods by Sale or Otherwise for or towards
the Discharge of the sd. Parish of St James for the bringing up & providing for the male
bastard Child mentioned in the order dated the sd. 22d. day of March last as aforesaid

To the Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of St James
within the Libty of Westmr. in the County of Middx

Whereas it appears to us whose hands & Seals are hereunto Set two of his Majties. Justices
of the Peace (Quor Unus) for the sd. County of Middx upon Oath as well as by your Complaint
that Anne Smith< no role > Singlewoman was on the 18th. day of October last delivered of a Male
bastard Child in your sd. Parish of St James and that She the sd. Anne Smith< no role > hath Since run
Away out of the sd Parish and left the sd. Child a Charge upon the sd. Parish where it was
been and to which the sd. Child is likely to Continue Chargeable And Whereas it
likewise appears to us the sd. Justices upon Oath that one Frances Stephenson< no role > of the
Parish widdow now hath in her Custody & Possession one Deal wooden Box wherein are
locked use One Red Mantua Silk Gown and one Petticoat of the Same Silk, One blew
I taffata night Gown, one blue Persian quilted Petticoat one Flonnell Petticoat &
some Linnen & that all the sd. Goods are the property of the sd. Anne Smith< no role > the lived most
of the sd. male bastard child born in the sd. Parish of St. James as aforesd. Now we the sd.
Justices in Pursuance of the Statute in that behalf made do hereby order you the sd.
Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the sd. Parish of St. James forthwith to take an
Seize the sd. Deal wooden box and the sd. Sevl. Gowns petticoats & Linnen therein locked up
being the Goods property of the sd. Anne Smith< no role > and now in the Custody & Possession of
the sd. Frances Stephenson as herein before is particularly menconed for & towards the
discharge of the sd. Parish to be Confirmed at the Sessions for the bringing up & Providing for
the sd. male bastard Child Given under our hands & Seals this 22d. day of March anno Dom 1730
