Off the sd. Comrs. With the Consent of the Respective Rectors Church
Wardens Overseers & Vestrymen or Principall Inhabitants of the sd.
Parishes or Districts of Saint James Clerkenwell & Saint John Clerkenwell
Not wer Yettnor By the sd. Respective Rectors Churchwardens Overseers And
Vestrymen Or Principall Inhabitants with Consent of their Respective
Ordinance or Ordinaryby Instrument In Waiting Under their hands & Soules

as by ye Said
Act of ye 10th of Queen Anne they Are Enabled or unpowered to Make As to ye Church
Rates Releif of the Poor Rates Scavrngers Rates For the high Ways or Other Parish rates within the same Retrospectovely. Nor has there yett Been any Annual sume or Consideration Limitted or setled for or in Respect thereof or for Equality of such Division Nor Any Annual or Other Agreement Between the sd Parishes. In Relation to Any of the said Rates [..] That on Tuesday in Last Easter Week scavengers Were duely Chosen And Confirmed for whole of the Parish of St. James Clerkenwell (including ye new as well as the old Parish) for this present Year. And that Within 20 Days After such Elelction & Confirmation ye Proper Officers & Inhabitants of the said Present Parish of saint James Clerkenwell without the Cognizance of the officers chosen by the new parish Made the scavengers Rate Now in Question According to a Pound Rate which Rate is Entitled A Rate [..] And Extends to & Upon the severall Inhabitants Within and throughout the Limitts of the said Ancient Parish of st. James Clerkenwell Including As Well the Inhabitants of the said Present Parish of saint John Clerkenwell as of The said Present Parish of saint James Clerkenwell which said Rate has Been duely Allowed And Confirmed By Two Of his Maties Justices of the Peace Within the said Present old Parish of saint James Clerkenwell. It Likewise Appears to this Court that the Petitioners are Inhabitants Resideing within the Limitts of the said New Parish of saint Johns Clerkenwell And that the said scavengers for the sd. Parish of saint James Clerkenwell have Demanded & Endeavoured to Collect the severall sumes Assessed By the said Rate Upon the said petitioners And Other Inhabitants Within the Limitts of the said New parish Of saint John Clerkenwell But the said Petitioners Insisting that
