Some few days since a Tory Gentlemen
a ming from taking the Oaths of Allegiance
&c. dropt the following Veries out of his Pock-
et, which we insert here as a Specimen of High-
Church sincerity.

Our Fathers of old took Oaths,as their wives,
To have and to hold for the term of their
(Lives;
But we take the Oaths, like a whore, for our
(Ease,
And a whore and a rogue may part when they
(please.

His Grace the late Archbishop of Canterbury
having by his Will order'd all the Books and
Papers in a Deal Press and Deal Box therein
mention'd to be burnt, without being seen, they
were burnt accordingly, and there was found in
the same, 1500 Guineas.

We are informd, that the Regiment which
was commanded by the Earl of Forter, is given
to Lieutenant General Wills; and the Lord
Forrester is to have that of the said Lieutenant
General Wills.

A Patent is passing the Seals, appointing the
Rev . Mr. William Worth< no role > , Batchelor of Divi-
nity one of the Prebendaries of Worcester , in
the Room or the Rev . Mr. William Galloway< no role >
deceas'd

On Saturday Night last the Sessions ended at
the Old Bailey, where 7 Persons receiv'd Sen
tence of death, and one after Conviction made
his Escape, by Leaping over the Bail-dock, and
over the Spikes of the Ralls at the Sessions-house
whilst the Court was fating, and has not once
been heard of. His Name is Chapman, and was
one of the Persons taken on the Highway some
time since near Bow, being Shot in the Nape of
the Neck.

Last week 2. Highway-men robb'd all the
Coaches they could meet with on Chelmsford
Road in Ellex and having had about 30 Guineas
and a Gold Watch of a certain Gentleman, who
had a particular value for the Watch on a pri-
vate Account, they die by his Request restore it,
Upon Promise, that if they should be taken, he
would not Prosecute them. Another Highway
man robb'd last Tuesday the Highgate Stage-
Coach of a Quantity of Money and Goods to
the value of almost 2001.

Monday last near Hounslow, a Waggon laden
with a great Parcel of Goods, laid to be going
to Bristol Fair was overturn'd and whilst the
Waggoner went for help, his Lanthorn which
hung on the waggon, set it on Fire when there
was discover'd a Quantity of Fire-Arms And Pow-
der; a great Part of the Goods were burnt.

Letters from Leverpool of the 14th Instant,
advise, that 95 Indictments are found already
against as many persons, amongst whom are
Chorley of Chorley, and his Son; and that
the Trial of these two comes on this day.

Thursday last being the Birth-day of Prince
Frederick, eldest Son to his Royal Highness the
Prince of Wales, who now enters upon the 10th
year of his Age, several loyal Subjects comme-
morated the said Anniversary, by roasting a
whole Ox upon the Ice, near Whitehall.
