Septr [..] Sessions 1711

For: as much as this Court is informed that a great Number of persons
dwelling within this County do assume upon themselv's to be provers of
Cattell, Badgers, Laders, Hidders, Carryers, Buyers & Sellers of Corne &
graine, butter, cheese, & other Dead Victualls not being there unto lycensed
& allowed, contrary to the Statutes in Such case made and provided to the
great inhanceing of the prizes of Cattell, Corne, Graine, butter, cheese, &
other dead Victualls. Itt is therefore thought fitt & Ordered by this Court that the
senall High Constables of this County in their respective Divisions doe
forthwith upon sight hereof cause all & Singular the petty Constables
within their said respective Divisions to make diligent inquiry & to
informe themselvs what persons doe take upon them to be drovers of
cattell, badgers, Laders, Hidders Corne Chandlers, carryers, buyers &
Sellers of Cattell, Corne & Graine, Butter, Cheese, Fish, Capons
Henns, Geese, or any other manner of dead Victualls whatsoever
within their severall parishes libtip & prciucts. And that after such
inquiry soe made they doe Certify unto the said High Constables on
or before the first day of [..] October next ensueing the true
Christian Names Sir names & dwelling places with the ages of all &
every the said persons as doe use & exercise any the doeings aforesaid
as well licensed as unlicensed And that the said High Constables make
reternes of the certificates of the said petty Constables unto her Maties
Justices of the peace of this County on the first day of the next
Genall quarter Sessions of the peace to be held for this County
that Such course may be taken thereupon as is most agreable to Law
And hereof the said High & petty Constables may not fail as they
will answer the contrary att their perill.
