Whereas due proof hath been made before us Philip Howard< no role > and
John Tully< no role > Esqrs two of her Majties Justices of the Peace for the said
County and Libty Quorum unus) Inhabiting next the Limits of the
Parish Church of St James in the Libty of Westmr upon Oath of Jane
Evans
< no role > Singlewoman Mother of a Male Bastard Child born
on the Fifth day of this Inst June in Warwick Street in the said Parish of
St James . that one John Pether< no role > of Hammersmith Water Man
did beget on the body of the said Jane Evans< no role > the sd Male
Bastard Child which Child is become chargeable to the said Parish of St. James
of which the Church Wardens and Overseers of the poor of the said Parish
have Complained Wee the said Justices of the peace upony Examinacon
of the said Jane Evans< no role > Mother of the said Male Bastard
Child and other Convincing Circumstances us hereunto moving to herby
adjudge and declare the said John Pether< no role > to be the reputed
Father of the said Male Bastard Child born of the body of the said
Jane Evans< no role > as aforesaid And thereupon Wee do Order as well
for the releif and to save harmless and Indemprifie the said Parish as
for the maintaining and keeping the said Bastard Child that the said
John Pether< no role > shall pay or Cause to be paid to the Church
Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish for the time
being or to some or One of them the Sum of Eleven Shillings and
Six pence a Weeke for the first four Weeks from the birth of the [..]
Child and after the Expiration of the first four Weeks the said
John Pether< no role > shall likewise pay or Cause to be paid to the
Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish for
the time being or unto some or One of them Weekly and every
Weeke the Sum of Two Shillings and Six pence of Lawfull Money of
England for and towards the maintainance and releif of the said
Male Bastard Child for so long time as the said Male
Bastard Child shall remain chargeable to the said Parish, And
lastly Wee do Order she said John Pether< no role > do forthwith upon
Sight of this our Order a true Coppy thereof being deliverd unto
him give Sufficient Security for the performance of this our
Order or otherwise to find Security to answer his Contempt &
to abide Such further Order as the Court of Justices assembled in
their Quarter Sessions for the [..] said County [..] shall then think
fit to make therein Given under our hands and Seales the
Ninth day of June 1708
