To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the pish of St. James Clerkenwell in the said County
And to the Church wardens and overseers of the Poore of
the pish of Clannan Neare Guilford in the County of Surry
and to every of them

Whereas Complaint hath been made unto as two of her
Maties: Justices of the peace for the said County (Quor nunc) whose
hands and Seales are hereunto Sett, By the Churchwardens and
overseers of the poore of the Parish of St. James Clerkenwell aforesaid
That Catherine Cartwright< no role > Widdow and her two Sonns named
Charles < no role > Aged about one yeare and halfe and the other named Thomas< no role >
Aged about Eight Weeks have lately intruded themselves into the
said pish of St. James Clerkenwell And endeavored to Settle themselves
there without giveing due Notice as is by Law Required And are
likely to be a grate charge to the said pish, if not timely prvented, And
Forasmuch as it appeareth unto us the said Justices, by the Oath of
the said Catherine Cartwright< no role > that She was last legally Settled in the
pish of Clannen neare Guilford in the County of Surry, where
She Saith She was borne and that her father was Settled there
And She Saith That She never knew any Settlemt. that her late husband
had. And upon a Strict Examinacon we can find noe other to place of
Settlement Save in Clannen pish aforesaid Therefore wee the
said Justices doe adjudge She was last Settled in the saith pish of
Clannen neare Guilford in he said County of Surry

These are therefore in the Maties. name to Require you Some or one
of you forthwith to Remove and convey out of your said pish
of St. James Clerkenwell the said Catherine Cartwright< no role > and her
said two children the next and directest way to the pish of
Clannen aforesaid, And them deliver to the Churchwardens
or Overseers of the poore thereof together with this prcept
whoe are hereby required them to receive & provide for as
for other poor untill they can free themselves by due course
of Law Given under our hands and Seales the Seaventeenth
day of February Anno Dom 1702 Anno Regui uri Due
