Wee whose Names are Subscribed & Seals hereto affixed Two of Her Maties: Justices of
the peace for the County of Middlesex (One whereof being of the Quorum) and Inhabiting
within the limitts of the parish Church of the parish of St Giles in the Fields in the said
County haveing mett together & heard the Complaint of the Churchwardens & Overseers
of the poor of the said parish of St Giles in the Fields concerning a female Bastard Child
born in the said parish On the Body of Amey Goodey< no role > Singlewoman On the eighth day
of January last past which is Baptized Frances < no role > & hath ever since the Birth thereof
been chargable to the said Parish & soe likely to continue, Do find upon Examinacon
of the said Amey Goodey taken upon Oath & other Circumstances, That Anthony
Stokes
< no role > a Corn chandler living near the Postern gate by Morefeilds London did legell
on the body of Her the said Amey Goodey the said Female Bastard Child, And
Doe adjudge him the said Anthony Stokes to be the only & true father thereof, And
Doe Order & appoint him the said Anthony Stokes< no role > forthwith upon notice of this Our
Order to pay to the said Churchwardens & Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of
St Giles in the Feilds or to some or one of them the sume of twenty five Shillings being
laid out & expended by the said Churchwardens & Overseers of the poor for defraying
the charge of the said parish for releif of the said Female Bastard Child the first
four weekes after the birth thereof, As alsoe that he the said Anthony Stokes< no role >
Shall weekly & every weeke afterwards pay unto the [..] Churchwardens & Overseers
of the poor of the said parish of St Giles in the Feilds or to some or One of them the
sume of Two Shillings & Six pence P weeke for and towards the releif & maintainance of the
said Female Bastard for so long time as the said Female Bastard shall remain &
continue chargable to the said parish, And of & from the Charge thereof at all
times hereafter shall save harmless & indempnifie the said parish of St Giles in the
Feilds in the said County & forthwith give sufficient securitie to the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the poor of the said parish of St Giles in the Feilds for the performance
of this our Order or appear at the next Genall quarter Sessions of the peace to be
held for the said County then & there to abide such Order as the Justices of the peace
or the more part of them shall take in that behalfe Given under Our Hands & Seals
the Second Day of Aprill in the Second Year of the Reign of Anne by the grace of
God Queen of England etc Annoqu Dni 1703
