A Watch to be
placed in Newport
Street .

Upon Information given to this Court by the grand Jury Attending this
Sessions that several Robbery and Burglarys have lately been comitted in the
night time in Newport Street in the Parish of St. Martin in the Feilds in this
County for want of a Watchman being placed to Stand in the said Street for
prevention thereof for the future Itt is thought fit and ordered by this Court
that the Constable of the said Parish of St. Martins in the Feilds for the time
being doe from henceforth att the ususall times when their Watches are sett
in the Night place and appoint one able Watchman to keep his stand in
some Convenient place in Newport street aforesaid who is not to geo out of the
said street till the usual hour in the Morning for discharging & leaving their
Watches.
