County of Southampton Esqr taken this 19th day
of Sept 1692 before Mr James Mundy< no role > one of
their Majesty's Justices of ye peace for ye sd: County
He followes that he came wit his sd Master
& one Mr Merriday &2 or 3 more Gentman
to this Examint:from his Lodgings in Chessey
near ye swan tavern by ye Waterside
in ye this County win an Intencon to goe to
Hartridge Fair but recting with two or three
Gent unknowen to this Examint: att Hodgdon in
ye County of Hertford after they had stard some
time & dined there they were preserved the return
back againe for London & accordingly his sd
Master Mr Merriday & ye sd three Gent return
been again for London by ye way of Tattnam
Highcross And this Examint: Sayet that Comt
ing laid from ye said Low of Hodgton He & his
fellow Servt: were taken before a Justice of peace
upon Suspicon of being Highway men, & this Examint
giveing an Acct: whose servt he was & that his
Master was upon ye Road they were discharged, &
thereupon this Examt: acquainted his sd Master:
had happend [..] & that ye men were gone
before towards Lond, thereupon his sd Mastr: &
ye rest of ye Gent sett spurrs to their Horses
& rodd very fast after ye sd men as this Examint
verily beleived wit an Intencon to call them to
an Acct: for is they had done to this Examint
& his sd fellow Servt: & this Examint: could
