almost every Sunday to them during the Course of
Divine Service, they are taught the Creed and the Lords
Prayer particularly Apprentices who frequently acquire.
the knowledge of them during a Months Confinement
Bibles Testaments. Prayer Books and other Moral
Tracts are delivered to all that can Read, the Mutineers
were brought into Chapel on Sundays and on Tuesdays
and Thursday's till by their illbehaviour and
Misconduct it was necessary to discontinue that
practice, it having been discovered that they had
laid a Plan to make their Escape from the Chapel
out of Prison, the Sick are diligently visited by the
Surgeon and there is every Degree of Cleanliness observed
in the Prison and every attention and Humanity
shewn by the Governor and Surgeon I frequently inquire
whether they are Comfortable or in want of any thing
and am always told by them every attention is paid
to them, - Ryan one of the Rioters concerned in the
Murder at Cow Cross who Died in the Prison of a
Consumption frequently thanked God for his Situation
and the opportunity given him for appeasing a
wounded Conscience, being of the Romish Church
he wished for a Priest of his own Persuasion which
being represented to the Committee was immediately
Complied with and Ordered by Dr.. Glasse,- The few
which have Died since my appointment have consessed
their pass'd profligate lives and their broken Constitution
and some have brought with them a certain Disorder
which have baffled the effort of Medicine.- that prior
to and since my appointment as Chaplain I have
visited every Gaol in the Metropolis except the City
Bridewell for information as well as observation and
have also done duty in many of them the result of which
is, that I have seen no Prison or Prisoners the First so
Clean, and the latter so Healthy in Appearance Etc. so.
