January 1799.

Vizt. One pound Loaf Per Day which was Constantly
delivered to the Prisoners committed on suspicion of
Sedition or treasonable practices - that Kier, Goodluck< no role >
and Neagle (prisoners charged with High Treason)
were never Confined in any Dark Cell, as stated in
the Paper - Neagle was never ill as he describes
nor was the Tub mentioned in the Paper, so near
his Cell as to create any stench Kier was removed
from his former Cell and put into another Cell
for about five Weeks, in Consequence of his having
drawn the Guillotine Etc. as before mentioned - that
Evans having got up to the Window and talked
improperly to the Persons under Sentence for Mutiny
he was repremanded by me, and told if he did so
again the shutters should be nailed up (which
was all the Threat ever used) but he never was
punished for it, nor was any other of them in any
way ever corrected except that I had once given Jones
a Mutineer who had behaved in a riotous manner
a Stroke with a Cane I had in my hand and upon
his turning seemingly with an intent to strike
me I gave him a blow or two with my Fist,
their relations were never refused access, that I
know of, except Mrs.. Bone for endeavoring to
excite a Riot on the outside of the Prison, and
telling the Mob the Prisoners were starving, and
Mrs.. Evans for waving her Handkerchief and
making signals to the Mutineers - I stopped
both of them coming into the Prison for about
a Fortnight for so doing, but they were afterwards
admitted and come in now regularly twice a
