and Co. if they will serve them at the lowest price which if
they refuse then that only 5. Chaldrons be laid in for present
use

It being suggested to this Committee that the Butchers
Meat is laid in at a price superior to the terms on which
other public bodies are supplied Resolved That it be
proposed to the Court to empower the Committee to
make Contracts with the Butcher and other Tradesman
as in their Discretion they shall judge proper

Ordered That the Resolution of this Committee of
February 5th. respecting the Diet for Prisoners under
Conviction in the New House of Correction be in future
strictly enforced; it was then Ordered that with Convicts
there should be no distinction in the Article of Food

The next Meeting was held on Monday September
3d. 1798.

At this Meeting the Chaplain stated that the
Alterations in the Chapel of the New Prison had been
made much to his satisfaction and that 150. Prisoners
attended Divine Service on the last Lords Day he
Reported the good behaviour of a Prisoner named
Richard Haynes< no role > alias Underhill who came to the New
House of Correction extremely ignorant of every thing that
is Good but has learned the Catechism perfectly and has
behaved himself in a very orderly manner he has one
Month to continue in Prison and is desirous at the
Expiration of that time to go to Sea The Committee
expressed a Wish that some birth might be found for
him and that he may not be at large to seek employ-
-ment for himself

The Chaplain also Reported That the behaviour
of John Birks< no role > and John Smith< no role > two Persons under
Conviction for Sedition has been for some time so
indecent in the Chapel and their Declarations of
