February 1798.

expressing his Intention to visit Parnell a Prisoner in
this House at the distance of some Days and therefore
he applies to the Committee to know whether in their
Opinion Dr.. Powells Visits are necessary the Committee
are of Opinion that Purnells situation as Reported by
the Surgeon is not such as to require the joint Assistance
of a Physician and that if Dr.. Powell attends Mr.. Webb
be desired to acquaint him that his further attendance
will not be necessary and it was Ordered That no
Medical Person be admitted to attend the sick Patients
in this House till the Surgeon has declared that he
thinks further Assistance is required.

Mr.. Aris Reported that Berry the Smith's
Confinement will expire on Thursday next that it
appears to him a desirable Mutler that he should be
retained in the Service of the County as their Working
Smith

The Committee has to Report on this Occasion
a Circumstance which they conceive will give no
inconsiderable Satisfaction to this Court as they believe it
is not to be paralleld in any Prison in Europe which is
that this Individual Berry has by his Ingenuity and
Constant Industry earned for the County in the course of
one year the sum of £189. reckoning the Work which he has
done which has been chiefly Cleaning and Repairing all
the Locks in the Prison at a much lower Price than has
been always charged for such Work by the County Smith

Mr.. Aris also Reported That he had Conversed
with Barry's Wife respecting her appointment to the Office
of Overlooking the Female Prisoners according to the 28th.
