for this County having laid before the Court an Application
from the Churchwardens' of the Parish of Saint James Clerkenwell
in
this County for payment of the Sum of £0..16s..0d for digging a Grave
for Burying by the Coroners Order Henry Lovell & Prisoners in New
Prison at Clerkenwell
(found guilty by the Croners Inquest of Self
Murder) in the Highway Etc.
Resolved that the said Bill or Demand be referred to the
Committee of Accounts to inquire what the practice in such Cases
has heretofore been and to Report the result of their Inquiry to the
Court.

the Collector of the Tolls
of J James's
Haymarket
attended the Court and represented that a Mr. Joseph
Partridge< no role >
whose Hay was sold by a Salesman in the said Market
claimed to be free by Charter from payment of Toll as one of the Tenants
of the Dutchy of Lancaster
and had refused to pay any Toll for the
same That in consequence thereof the said Collection had laid an
Information before William Hyde< no role >
Esquire
one of His Majestys Justices of
the Peace
for this County and had requested him to summon the
said Joseph Partridge< no role >
before him in order to enforce the payment
thereof but that Mr Hyde had delivered determining the same and
had referred him to this Court for their opinion thereon.
Mr. Bowdler also laid a Copy of the Charter before the
Court and the same being read and also the Act of the 8th. and 9th.
of William and Mary and the Statute of the 31st. of George the 2d
Resolved that in Case any Hay belonging to the said
Joseph Partridge< no role >
or any other of the Tenants of the said Dutchy be
sold in the said Market and the Toll be refused to be paid That
Mr Bowdler do insist on the payment of the Toll for the same and in
Case of Refused that he do forthwith apply to Mr. Stirling who is hereby
authorized to use legal means to enforce the payment thereof.
